If you mean the W98 Product Key, it is usually attached to the computer case
if you have an OEM version. If you have a retail version of W98, the product
key should be printed on the W98 packaging.

If Windows is installed on the hard drive, use Everest
Home Edition (free) to provide you with the Product ID
number and the Product Key.

Get it here: http://www.lavalys.com/

Are you aware if the freeware version of Everest Home Edition I'm
about to d/l and install is, in fact, a trial version? If a trial
version, the license agreement states:

"3. TRIAL VERSION ADDENDUM TO THE GENERAL LICENSE AGREEMENT:

IF THIS PRODUCT IS IDENTIFIED AS A TRIAL VERSION, YOUR USE OF THE
TRIAL VERSION PRODUCT IS GOVERNED BY THE TERMS OF THE GENERAL LICENSE
AGREEMENT AS MODIFIED BY THE TERMS OF THIS TRIAL VERSION ADDENDUM. IN
THE EVENT OF ANY CONFLICT BETWEEN THE TERMS OF THE GENERAL LICENSE
AGREEMENT AND THIS TRIAL VERSION ADDENDUM, THE TERMS OF THE TRIAL
VERSION ADDENDUM SHALL GOVERN.

THE PRODUCT IS A 30 DAY TRIAL VERSION ONLY AND WILL BECOME INOPERABLE
30 DAYS AFTER YOU LAUNCH THE PROGRAM. AFTER THIS DATE, YOU WILL NOT BE
ABLE TO ACCESS ANY FILES CREATED WITH THIS TRIAL VERSION UNLESS YOU
HAVE INSTALLED A RETAIL VERSION OF THE PRODUCT.

THIS TRIAL VERSION WILL BE BECOME COMPLETELY INOPERABLE ON JUNE 30,
2004, REGARDLESS OF THE DATE YOU LAUNCH THE PROGRAM."

If the Everest Home Editon (Freeware) is the Trial Version it has
become inoperable since June 30, 2004.

Please advise.

Thanks.

PS: sorry for the capital letters. I did a copy-and-paste from the
license agreement.

I have the Everest too.
It is free if you chose that one to download.

You are welcome.
Interestingly, I just ran the Everest and "Everest caused an invalid page
fault"
I never had that with the forerunner - Aida32.
Guess I won't use it anymore.
