I had to re-install 98se due to my system being hijacked
by an ad-ware virus & now my monitor won't work right.
Windows identified the device correctly the first time,
but only showed one driver to use for it & now that I've
tried to change it, it won't identify the monitor. I'm so
confused! Trying to view websites & even my email is very
difficult now.
When I try to select a driver under the monitor tab on
advanced settings, it shows me one list of "drivers" and
when I try to select a driver under the adapter tab on
advanced settings, it shows me a different list. I am
totally lost! Can anyone help?

What does "now my monitor won't work right." mean to you?

The adapter is your video card.

I should say the display isn't like it used to be. I
managed to improve it by going to HP's website &
downloading a better video card driver. Now web pages
aren't pixilated & flashing anymore, but my
desktop "theme" is still very pixilated. (Forgive my
spelling, please) Also, I didn't have sound until I turned
my computer on today, when for some unknown reason, it
suddenly started working. Then it quit, now its working
again. I also downloaded a better driver for the sound but
since it isn't working all the time, I'm not sure I have
the best possible setup.
