Duplicate short-cut icons (bottom left of display screen)

I am running Windows 98. Lately, I am getting duplicates
of each icon in the shortcut tray at the bottom left of
the screen. How can I stop this from occurring?

Start> Run>--write--> msconfig> OK> Start up
See if there is a strange thing in your startup list.
