Text on display, toolbars, status bars, web pages, icons
all appear smaller than usual. Viewable screen is same
size, but items within are smaller.
What happened and how can I change things back to normal?

Right-click on a blank part of the desktop and choose Properties. From here
you can choose Settings and select a smaller screen area (it will make
everything larger) or you can select Appearance and then adjust the size of
each individual item of text or graphic.

maybe you can help me ,Jeff. my prob is the opposite, the window size is
fine, it's the page inside that's too big. I have to keep scrolling left to
right to read the whole page!

If you don't want to increase the screen size, then you need to reduce the
window size. The procedure for this varies with the application. For
instance, with Internet Explorer you would select a smaller text size (View
/ Text size / Smaller). Other applications will have similar options for
controlling window size.
