usb controller missing from system devices

for some reason there are no universal serial controllers
showing on my system can anyone direct me as to how i can
fix this problem to get them up and running again

Assuming that you have USB ports installed, they're probably disabled in the
BIOS.
Read you manual for instructions on how to enter BIOS/CMOS Setup, and check
there.
