update drivers

Can anyone help me? in device manager I try to update
drivers,it starts checking,then stops. I use ctrl,alt,del.
and it tells me update drver is not responding. What can I
do to get it working??? I have ME

Or in my case today a 160GB SATA drive go bad on you. My fault for
filling it so full. Had just 650MB or so free. I seem to have damaged
the MFT. Having worked for nearly 14 hours I have recovered all 157GB of
data except for four trivial and inconsequential text files. Now for a
very strong black coffee or just maybe something much stronger. Let's
hope tomorrow gets back to normal and I can at least get part done of what
I had planned for today.

Not necessarily the sort of stuff you back up (and just think 40 DVDs for
just that one drive, that box itself totals 500GB and the new box a
similar amount so that would mean 125 DVDs). The files were all
multimedia stuff with quite a lot of "work in progress" with lots but not
necessarily all of the original data also existing on either CD or DVD.
I'm just glad that I had so much spare capacity on other boxes although I
suspect it's going to take me a couple of weeks to find everything again
and get it back in the right place so I can find it when needed.

You should be so lucky - this one's a zinger, and not confined to the OS -
look out for patches also to Office, VS, and just about anything that does
work on graphics!

Fortunately (and this is the one time I am thankful that the powers that be
are behind on software versions!) we don't have any of the other apps that
are affected by the bug. I think we might have Office XP on three PCs, all
the rest have Office 2000 and Windows 2000. <SAG>
