Hi
i have the tipical problem for ScanDisk - My os is Win Me -
It is reboot 10 times it says and cannot complete it
because another programm is writing on my hard disk..i
already tried ScanDisk in safe mode plus i also deleted
all the software were on my task bar at the bottom of the
page so how Microsoft forum help was suggesting....the
result was:It seemed to work but after a while it was
making the scan of "clusters" it restart to give me the
same problem--->reboot 10 times.- What can i do?
I found ot by SpyBot software i have a "DSO exploit" on my
PC,but SpyBot is not able to remove it. Is it the reason
ScanDisk doesn't want to work??? what can i do????help

Ps:I already downloaded all the updates of microsoft, but i
guess i was already infected.
Hoping in some help......Thanx........

What do you have Scandisk set to do......Standard or Thorough? I think you
have it on Thorough.....change that to Standard. If so, that is what is
causing your problem....(thorough)

You don't delete all the task bar items.....but hold down 3 keys at once,
Ctrl, Alt & Del......that will show you what is running. Do NOT delete
Systray or Explorer.

NO.....it is a false alert.....ignore it. You are not infected or infested,
OK??

Now......go back and check to see that Scandisk is in Standard Mode and run
that in Safe Mode and then do a defrag. Post back if you need more help.

First thing to try, is running it in Safe Mode.

If OK in Safe Mode, download and install ScanDefrag v5.0.

This is a FREE utility, written by several well respected contributors to
these News Groups and has been designed to run several original MS utilities
through a 'filter' which eliminates the usual junk which stops Scandisk (and
Defrag) from running properly in Normal Mode - as you are already
experiencing <g>

You can get ScanDefrag at either of the two sites below - and be sure to
read the associated notes for setting it up:
http://home.earthlink.net/~bblanton2/scandefrag/main.htm
http://www.blueorbsoft.com/scandefrag/index.html

HTH and good luck

Mart
