View Full Version : Video Mode not supported problem

I have a Presario 5000 with a Samsung monitor. I changed
the video setting to optimize. When I did, I now
get "Video mode not supported problem" error that dances
across the screen. I can not find my original Windows ME
cd to get in to change the video setting. I've tried
holding down the CTRL key while booting but it is ignored.
What is another way to get to Safe mode where it will
hopefully load Standard VGA?
Thanks and feeling pretty stupid having done this, but I'm
an XP guy not a ME guy..

Try tapping F8 after the POST screen and before Win Me starts to get into
the Start Menu if Ctrl doesn't work. If you still cannot get into Safe
Mode and are happy at working in DOS, boot to a DOS prompt using a boot
floppy and use EDIT to edit the file MSDOS.SYS which is in the root of C:
and add
BootMenu=1
in the section [Options]

This will then automatically display the boot menu when starting Win Me.
