Compaq 7595 running Win98(SE)
BIOS Reports: Pentium III 650/100 & 128 MEG of RAM.
-----------
System Properties shows:
Chip: X86 Family 6 Model 8 Stepping 1, with 128 MEG of RAM
Running Win98(SE) 4.10.222A.
OEM 25203-OEM-0077077-74010.
Windows shows 2 hard drives -- C:\ and D:\ -- (probably Partitioned)
C:\Drive is 25 GIG with 9 GIG used.
D:\Drive is 2.7 GIG with 1.1 GIG used.
Machine has a CD-Burner and a DVD Player.
Device Manager shows: E:\Drive, CD-RW ATAPI CD-RW 52x24
Device Manager shows: F:\Drive, DVD-ROM - Compaq DVD-ROM 5D608
---------
THE PROBLEM is the system DOES NOT DETECT ANY of 4 Flash Drives, and I =
CAN'T INSTALL THE DRIVERS into it.

When I put any of the 4 Flash Drives into any USB port, nothing happens.

Then I go: Control Panel > Add New Hardware and the system finds a new =
device.
However, when I "browse" to the folders with the Flash .INF files and/or
the other Set-up files, the operating system FAILS to install the =
drivers.
It leaves a big "yellow question mark" in the Device Manager.

I'm trying to install and HAVE ALL the drivers on CD-ROM for these Flash =
drives.
1. PNY Attache 64 MEG Flash Disc
2. PNY Attache 128 MEG Flash Disc USB 2.0=20
3. SanDisk Cruzer mini 128 MEG=20
4. AVB 64 MEG=20
----------------
I went to the Compaq site and went through their Troubleshooting =
recommendations for my machine. The best suggestion I received was to =
check the BIOS to see of Advanced setting for the Legacy Plug and Play =
support was enabled. It was.
----------------

I've installed these same Devices and Drivers in many other Win98(SE) =
machines.
I've installed them in many family and friends Win98(SE) machines, and =
had no problems. =20
I've install them in many different Win98(SE) machines in three =
different classrooms, and had no problems.
It's only in this Compaq 7595 with DVD Player that I'm experiencing =
problems.

Does anyone have any recommendations/suggestions as what to pursue next? =

Many thanks, in Advance.

The flash drive mfgr MUST supply the drivers for WIN 98 if they support 98.

Hi

If you find anything out, please let me know. Same
problem with a generic AMD Athlon with Windows 98SE.
Can't find driver to download.
