My virus checker informed me unwise.exe that had a virus. I unfortunately deleted it and now no software runs when I try to open it. Not even items in control panel, or from start menu. I get the message "unable to find unwise.exe". I have found a few iterations of "unwise.exe" when I use "search files and folders", but if I point to them when the "unable to find unwise.exe" message appears the program still doesn't open. What can I do?

Unwise.exe is not used to run programs.

See if your AV site has further details on what else you have to do or
try this fix to restore the application association:

This Swen fix will correct that.

Thank you so much. It worked! Programs load and run, although during Windows startup I still get the message "Cannot find the file C:\WINDOWS\UNWISE.EXE (or one of its components). Make sure the path and filename are correct and that all required libraries are available." However this doesn't seem to effect any operations.

The startup message won't affect anything but you can disable it (or
remove it with a little work)

Check in Msconfig for any oddities.
(Start-Run-MSCONFIG-Startup tab)
If you cannot see anything in Msconfig then:

Start-Run-msinfo32
Click the + beside Software Environment to expand.
Click Startup Programs
Ctrl+A to Select All, Ctrl+C to Copy.
Paste that information in your message.
