installing Lexmark all in one. followed response posted for Lynn 8/27/04).
Went to download.lexmark.com. Downloaded clean utility, print driver, and
patch. clean utility installed and operated fine. rebooted my computer. But
when I tried to install the printer driver I received a message that the
computer could not find my printer. What am I doing wrong?

Your problems just might be because Lynn has a Lexmark x75 and you have a
Lexmark 4270 all-in-one printer. The drivers are not the same.

Mike M, I realize it may not be my answer, I tried it because the problem was
similar to the problem Im having. I would still like to know if anyone can
figure out why my computer will not recognize my printer.

Diane,

Your initial post talked about problems with oleaut32.dll and nothing
whatsoever about your system being unable to see your printer. I pointed
you towards the correct driver. Have you installed it? Until you install
a printer driver the operating system will never see your printer.

Installing a totally inappropriate printer driver is hardly going to help,
in fact the complete opposite. The best advice I can give you now is to
use system restore to roll back your system to before you started and then
download and install the appropriate Win Me driver for your printer. Only
when you have done this and installed the drivers should you plug in your
printer.
