I did it all and I got very usefull advice here. Now starting with
diagnostic tools called "DFT" for my IBM DCXA 210000 hard drive and it gives
me an option to erase and fix everything (at least it will try to repair the
damage). Great. You can always learn something new here!!!

..........In FDISK remove all partition/s.
..........Re-create new one/s.
.........Format the partition/s.
.........Reboot with a Startup disk that has CD support and install Windows.

My Disk is "out". Tested with IBM diagnostic tools. It has damaged parts and
won`t function anymore.
thanx

Evo "pismo" kojim sam se "tuzakala" Microsoftu:
.....ako znate,pomozite......vise nemam pojma sto da radim!??

I have Compaq Presario 1930.
...and OS win98 ....it was unstable, who knows why, so I decided to reinstall
win98...but it seems to be very complicaed this time.
I did "fdisk"....but cannot format c: ????.....it simply won`t do
that....tells me: "disk not ready". I did Scandisk for a "million"
times....and did hundreds of ... "fix it-jobs"!??
Finally got nothing.
"it" tells me: ....autoexec.bat : HIBCHK found in 1 lines.......blablabla...
........and:
"A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent
damage to your computer.
The problem seems to be caused by the following file: partmgr.sys
DRIVER_UNLOADED_WITHOUT_CANCELLING_PENDING_OPERATI ONS

.....ETC......disable BIOS memory options such as...etc....."

Please, give me some advice. What is going on? What can I do now? Why can`t
format C: (also it doesnt "see my C drive anymore....!???)
I am stuck! Waiting for help.
Thanx,
Always Yours , D.female

I think that you have screwed things up to such an extent
that you'll have to format the C: drive and reinstall
Windows.

Remember to disable any boot-sector virus protection
setting in the BIOS because this ruins the setup.

See this page if you don't know what the BIOS is:
http://www.pcbuyerbeware.co.uk/BIOS.htm

And visit this site for information on how to perform a
clean installation of Windows:

In FDISK remove all partition/s.
Re-create new one/s.
Format the partition/s.
Reboot with a Startup disk that has CD support and install Windows.

Don't bother to do any of that until you verify your hardware is no
defective; see http://cquirke.mvps.org/9x/bthink.htm
