Print error message

Using windows 98 2nd ed with error message cannot print to
LPT1 printer(canon BJC4300) check to see if printer is
plugged in or online. I have checked cables and replaced
ink cartriges on the printer. The printer will print a
status when it is turned off and the power button is held
down for 2 beeps. The PSI sheet lists as#1 Priter Control
mode Disabled is this the issue? Also re installed the
software last night to check if correct driver is
operating any suggestions??
