windows98boot up

my friend has windows 98, he's trying to boot it up he
loads the emergency floppy disc then it asks him to put
in the windows 98 cd rom which starts to load up it
loads about 95% and then comes up with the error
device error code 7696
dos error code 11
read fault
Can any one help mwe please cheers

with the disks he is using.
