I installed a slaved 80gig HD because the primary HD had
gotten to small. Win 98 recognizes C drive and the new D
drive but but does not recognize the now e and f cdrom and
cd/rw. The two cds are connected directly to the
motherboard (Gateway).

Did you change the jumpers on the drive when rearranging ???

You may also try rearranging the drives
