Since replaceing my old 20Gb HD which crashed last fall,I
have had a porblem with the new 80Gb HD, running on
Windows98SE. The new HD is a Western Digital Hi Performace
drive. I was able to get my OP system loaded and seems to
run ok, but I am unable to "click" on a program and get it
to open. Double click does not work and neither does
the "OPEN" work. I have found that upon booting the
system, I have to hit the "esc" before I can click and
open a program with mouse. It seems as though someting
else is running in the back ground, preventing normal
mouse function. The esc key seems to resolve issue, but
this is not normal. I have not been able to detect any
problems any where else in the system, but would like to
get this one resolved. Since my computor came with
Windows98SE, I only have a "Restore" disk to reload the
OS. I also had a "MEMORY" message that poped up while
loading the OS software. I get the feeling that there may
also be some info/apps that may not have loaded at the
time and may be causing the problem. I have since
purchased 2 other computer systems since the 98 went down,
but find that I am running low on funds. If anyone can
help, I would certainly appreciate it.
