Hi whomever,

My Dad swears he done nothing unusual when he last powered
off his PC, but on reboot it is showin a screen similar to
SAFE MODE, but it isn't, ie big icons and poor colour
selection, also the mouse has died. I was trying to get to
the point where it asks what settings to boot up with, I
use 2000, and i know that you can break into the startup
to get last known good registry setting. In the past i
have did this for my dad and if i remember correctly, ME
shows you a calender that you simply click on the day you
had a good start up.

Where and how do i get to this,

Thanks to all you nice ppl in advance.

Try using System Restore and roll the system back to a checkpoint created
just before your Dad messed things up. Alternatively boot to DOS using
floppy and use
SCANREG /RESTORE
and choose a copy of the registry to restore that predates the problems.

It's called System Restore and it's in Start | Programs | Accessories |
System Tools - System Restore

In many different ways. I see that Mart has posted one route, others
include via Help & Support, via MSConfig | General, and also by directly
launching the file rstrui.exe in the windows\system\restore folder..
