Left my computer on standby and when I tried to activate
it, it loads properly Desktop and all, then a box pops up
that says "Cannot start Back Web:Socket init failed:. I
get online and click on an icon and it is as though I am
not connected to my ISP. The same with the e-mail, like
there is no connection..I don't know anything about Back
Web, don't know much about computers. Any help would be
very appreciated...I do have a recovery disk if all else
fails.....Thank You for your

Have you tried re-booting?

I am assuming when you say re boot, Shutting down. I have
shut it down for an hour and it does the same thing. I
have run scan disk --- defrag.
I fail to mention I have another machine which I am now
using and the ISP is working. Windows 98-SE HP-6635

Not sure if this will work, read a long time ago that if you boot to Safe Mode first
and then reboot it should get the machine out of standby.
Backweb is a program installed by some manufacturers and software. For info on it
see:

Click on Task List > B and look it up.
