How do I do this?

I would like to change my computer from ME to XP. Ihave a
XP reinstall disc but that is all. Could you please help
me. O r maybe you could just help me clean out my ME.. I
have crashes and wierd error and all kinds of crazy thngs
going on. I may also have a virus. Do you have any
suggesstions for me? I am at the end of my rope. P would
appriciate any info you might have for me. thanks a

You may have a virus/spyware hijack

download the Stinger from here and run it to make sure that A-V-disabling
viruses are not present on your PC
http://download.nai.com/products/mcafee-avert/stinger.exe

- update your virus scanner and run a full system scan of all files.

Reboot to Safe Mode and run CWShredder - to remove variants of the
CoolWebSearch hijacker.

download AdAware from www.lavasoftusa.com, install, update, and run it to
remove spyware, adware,
and other such nasties from your system.

Post back with your results after that, and we'll see what we can do about
getting ME working properly.

Your XP 'reinstall disk' is probably tied to another computer, and won't
work properly. DON'T even think about using it until you've established its
provenance!!!
