How would I change the mouse from Com1 to Com2? Reason is
I think my Com1 is zapped internally. Cannot communicate
with Com1. (Control panel,Sytem,General,Computer,Mouse)
shows a question mark like it is not responding. Also
using the 'keyboard shortcut' keys (cntl+esc,Tab), am
unable to 'add new hardware' or change anything concerning
the mouse. This thing really has me locked out. Even
reinstalled Win98 SE. Any suggestions or is it a trip the
the Green box?
Thank you, Ben in Montana

you may need to get the Drivers for your mouse if it is not a standard one.
and as for answering to your email, that would mean nobody else gets to see
the solution. and also posting your email and not making an obvious change
to it ie shop98-2@bresnan(remove this).net is in a way asking for Spam and
viruses.

May be that the drivers are corrupt or even installed improperly. Try starting in
Safe Mode, remove the mouse, reboot, widows will redetect/reinstall. AFAIK the mouse
should not be on a COM port.
Check your BIOS for COM port settings, it may have been disabled somehow.
