Windows 98 SE Recording

I have a Windows 98 box using a Sound Blaster 16 sound
card. I plug in a cassette deck into the line in and hear
anything it plays very clear. I set the recording level
options (and make sure the line in is selected and level
set high enough). The levels are not muted. Using
something as simple as the Windows Sound recorder, nothing
comes through. I installed Audio Grabber and using their
line in , I get an error message that Windows is not
getting sound from the sound card. I have never seen this
before. Any suggestions - anyone??
