Windows ME Upgrade

Can anyone help me obtain the manual or a copy of, that was
packaged with the Windows ME Upgrade Disk?

I don't think that any manual accompanied any Win Me CD upgrade or full
and the best you can expect to find is a somewhat thin leaflet.

The point that Mike was trying to make is that there is NO information in
the leaflet that came with Win ME!!

If you're looking for specific info, then let us know what, and we can
almost certainly point you in the right direction.

Since you don't know what was provided I can't really understand how you can
say "it contains some information I seek". If you require information asking
for it is usually the best way of obtaining the information. Most of the
information relating to Win Me is included as part of Help & Support. In
addition there are a dozen or so text files on the CD such as Cleanhd,txt,
general.txt, programs.txt and readme.txt.

For example I received no documentation whatsoever with my Win Me CD but mine
was a "Technical Beta Special Edition" given to me by Microsoft in recognition
of my work in testing during the Win Me beta.

FWIW, I actually bought my ME upgrade off-the-shelf...... and got not a lot
more (and <pick your unfavourite deity> alone knows where it is now, after
two moves in the past 6 months!)<g>

including my bed or the loo so perhaps I ought to think about moving as if
nothing else I might get rid of some of my junk. :-)

using the upgrade version."
I support in the technology area of a small, local private
school and recently reformatted a number of HD's and was
obliged to install Windows 98 Full Edition first, followed
by a 98SE Upgrade. You can understand the savings in time
if I could accomplish this directly from the Upgrade disk,
hence my inquiry.

KB271673 - "Windows Millennium Edition Cleanhd.txt File Contents"

The penultimate paragraph of Cleanhd.txt states:
"4. <snip> If you have the Windows
Me Upgrade product, you must insert a CD or floppy disk from
a previous version of Windows. The instructions will tell you
when to insert the Windows Me CD back into the drive."

Both Noel and myself could have told you this if you had asked. This
question is frequently asked in these newsgroups.

Can you tell me if this same protocol would work with the
Windows 98SE Upgrade disk utilizing the appropriate boot
disk? Any Windows OS Upgrade disk?

Yup - although the original disks MUST be MS-type (i.e. not 'Recovery'
disks) in order for the upgrader to recognise the OS. Otherwise, you'll have
to reinstall the original OS first, and then upgrade
