View Full Version : Printer Folder Error

A couple months ago a very interesting thingy started
happening. When Print is selected, our 3-1/2" disc drive
will run even tho nothing is in it, then a Printers Folder
window pops up saying there was an error writing to
LPT1... A reboot would always clear the problem. Lately
I've discovered that if I call up Start - Settings -
Printers - HP - Purge Print Docu's (even tho there is
nothing to purge), then try to print, everything proceeds
fine. This doesn't happen every time Print is selected and
so far I have not been able to determine a sequence that
causes this to happen. What do you spose I've done to
create this mess? All ideas, suggestions, and comments
will be greatly appreciated. Thanks, K.

What printers are installed? Check whether there's a printer set up to
print to file. It might be defaulting to the A drive for the print file.

While this article doesn't specifically address your problem, a lot of the
general troubleshooting in it might be helpful:

HOW TO: Troubleshoot Printing Problems in Windows 95, Windows 98, and
Windows Millennium Edition

Since it did work before, it's also very possible that something that you
added or that added itself to your system is causing the problem. Often
clean boot troubleshooting with help find the culprit.
