When I print to an Epson 1160 connected to a computer
running 98SE I can set a custom paper size.

When I print to the same printer through the network from a
computer running XP Pro there is no custom paper size
option in the dialog box. How do you set a custom paper
size in XP?

Did you install the driver from Epson on your Win98 system? It sounds like
the difference is that the driver included with WinXP does not have the same
options as the one that you installed from Epson. Check to see if there is
an XP driver available from Epson.

Just in case it's there and you didn't find it, I can set "User defined"
paper size for my Epson printer while running XP by right-clicking the
printer in the printers folder. Click Properties, Printing Preferences,
Paper (tab). Under Paper Size, click the down arrow and find "User defined"
on the list if the paper size that you need is not there.

Thanks. I did need to get the Epson XP driver. I now get
the same dialog box, including the custom size option, with
XP that I did with 98SE.

However, I still get the generic dialog box, without the
custom size option, when I try to use the 98SE machine to
print using the network. I uninstalled and reinstalled that
printer but it did not help.

I guess I'm confused. Is this another Win98SE computer? I thought the
printer was connected to the Win98 system and working correctly? Did you
move the printer? Did you use the driver from Epson to install the driver
on the Win98 system?

Using WinXP or 2000 is easy. You can go
in CONTROL PANEL, then in PRINTERS. From FILE, select
SERVER PROPERTIES. Then from the FORMS tab click CREATE
NEW FORM.
