I recently encountered an error on my computer stating
that explorer has an error in BROWSEUI.dll. I went to the
Microsoft help pages, and it says I need a rescue disk, of
which I do not own. Is there any way to fix this and get
my computer back and running?

Thanks!

If you mean a "boot disk", then go to www.bootdisk.com and download the one
for ME.....you probably need the OEM one if you do not have an original
Microsoft WinME disk. Most computers from Dell, Gateway, Compaq, etc, use
an OEM setup.

Open the boot disk and follow directions to transfer the innards to a floppy
and that is a 'rescue disk'. You can use that to boot your computer, which
is the assumption I am going under.

The Microsoft.com page tells me to do the following..

To resolve the issue, run the Registry Scan utility:
1. Restart your computer using the Windows Me emergency
startup disk.
2. Use the arrow key on your keyboard to select Start
Computer Without CD-ROM Support, and then press ENTER.

3. At the prompt type scanreg /fix, and then press ENTER.
4. After the ScanReg process is complete, restart your
computer.

Will doing what was suggested by Heather complete this
process?

You can run SCANREG /FIX from within Windows in ME -

Start|Run
type
SCANREG /FIX
click OK - Windows will reboot

The only problem I have is that I can not access anything
within windows. When the error comes up, there is nothing
further I can do...

Suggestions?

Unfortunately.... yes...

Both instances boot into either windows or safe mode. I
then get the error of Browseui.dll not working, and I may
need to restart. the only way to restart is Ctl-Alt-
Delete, for any click of mouse or manipulation with the
keyboard has me receiving the message again.
