View Full Version : thumbnails not appearing

After re-installing all softwares, the thumbnails of
pictures in jpg format are not appearing in the Windows
Explorer. I just get a box around the icon. However,
thumbnails of pictures in bmp format are ok.

Thank you in advance.

It appears that you have installed a graphics application of some sort
that has damaged some of the necessary registry entries used to produce
thumbnails.

To fix the thumbnail problem, enter the following from a command prompt
such as Start | Run:

REGSVR32 THUMBVW.DLL

and press enter. This should re-register thumbvw.dll and add back the
necessary missing registry entries.

I have the same problem. When I turn my windows to "View--
>Thumbnails", I can view all other file names fine, but
somehow, the thumbnails for .jpg files do not appear.
What can I do? Thanks!

A good place to start would be by reading the reply that had been
previously posted to the original query. If your problem is the same then
the solution is likely to be the same.

I am completely sorry. I feel like such an idiot right
now because I didn't realize you can click the "+" signs.
I thought the only replies were the ones in gray without
any "+". Now I realize....I apologize.

And thank you so so much for your help. It worked!
Thanks!

Betty,

Well done for working out how to use the Microsoft web interface to these
newsgroups. It's difficult to explain to someone using the web interface
such as yourself what they need to do when from their post one realises
that they aren't able to read replies. So again, well done for working
that out. Now hopefully you'll find these newsgroups far more use. <vbg>

BTW, in case you are wondering many of us use a news program or news
client such as Outlook Express or Agent to read these newsgroups and never
use the Microsoft web interface which we tend to find clunky and at times
unusable.

Regards,
