I am having a problem with my Epson C84 Printer. Never
know when the printer box comes up saying , this progam
has performed an illegal operation & will be shut down.
I called Epson, Geoff, who deleated all programs except
Explorer & systems tray when my screen went black with
only the time in the very far right of the task bar. Geoff
said to call Microsoft as I am having a operating system
problem. I am using a Hewlett Packard, Pavillion, 6640C,
computer. Then he said to call him back when my problem is
resolved.

Sincerely,
Geraldine Bills

Do you have your Windows disk? Can you start Windows? Insert your 98 disk and
re-install the system. I don't know who Geoff is, but illegal operations doesn't
necessarily mean you delete all your programs. What program were you using when this
error occurred? Some programs are more critical when it comes to printing, especially
graphic intensive documents. Microsoft Publisher will often times fail because of
corrupt or out of date drivers.

Your printer driver could have become corrupt. There is a 98 printer driver on the
Epson site for the C84.

Completely remove your printer from your computer before you re-install it.

Try it again without the printer error. Start Windows. When the desktop
appears and loading is finished, press Ctrl+Alt+Del all together. In the
list that appears, select each item in turn - except for Explorer or
Systray - and choose End Task. Note the name of each one as you end it.
Wait a few moments after each one (some of them will come up with a
confirmation screen - select OK and wait a few more moments). Which one
causes the screen to go black?
