I am running Windows 98 with IE6. I am using Spybot S&D
and it keeps finding a DSO Exploit(data source object
exploit). Even after I fix it with Spybot, it seems to
return shortly there after. I have all the critical
security update (So the update wizard says)...can anyone
give me clue whats going on and how to remedy this??
Thanks in advance. RD

Hello R.Dawe,
I under_stand its a problem_ to be fixed in the next
release of Spybot.

Hello all,
The problem with the DSO Exploit is a little bug. We have
already been able to locate and fix it, but unfortunately
it was not included with the last update. It will
hopefully be with the next one.
The DSO Exploit is a security gap in IE. Microsoft did
already repair this, so if you have all Windows updates
and patches installed, it is not dangerous for your system.
I hope that explains the situation.
So, the solution is just waiting for the update

I hope that helps.

That response is dated 11 June 2004; it is now nearly end September and the
misdetection continues. I and other MVPs have been pinging about this issue
for a while. I am beginning to despair that the misdetection will be
removed.
