I've been trying to troubleshoot a DVD playback problem on my PC. If I play
a DVD Iso image mounted on a virtual drive my DVD player software (powerDVD)
works perfectly. When I play a DVD movie from my Sony DVD-ROM drive
(DDU1621, 16X) the movie will freeze up with the DVD & hard drive lights
"on" solid. From the symptoms I suspect the DVD-ROM drive but I'm not sure
what is wrong because it plays Data & Audio CDs just fine. I have Intel
Application Accelerator installed and it says my DVD-ROM drive is operating
in UDMA-2 mode, as well as both my hard drives.
Do these symptoms mean anything to anyone? Any ideas or suggestions?
