After entering help from start window and entering a
subject under index, the initial file opens but trying to
proceed throught the file only shows blank pages

Hi Denis,
Are you referring to the Help "Troubleshooters"? If so, see here:
It is caused by a MS Critical Update.
The cure depends on what patch is causing you problems. Try this one first.
First, click Start> Settings> Folder Options> View tab, and click to enable
"Show All Files" and click OK.

Click Start> Find> File or Folders, and search the C:\ drive for a file
named Tshoot.inf...it should be found in the \Windows\Inf folder.
Right-click Tshoot.inf and click Install on the menu that appears.
Close the Find Files window and try the Troubleshooter again.

If still no joy,go to this page to get a download that
will get your Tshooters back, but be sure to read the text file that is
enclosed.
