1. I will try this again.

Problem is with a new notebook emachine model M6809
Has amd athlon 64 mobile 3200+ with via chipset

Installed win98SE as base partition to hold system
commander. Note has nothing to do with problem. This
place holder partition for switching operating systems. I
have XP sp1 and Linux. I play with programing etc. Again
has nothing to do with problem just stating what it is
there for primary.

Secondary I use win98Se to backup an image partition. But
usb 2.0 will not operate. Have downloaded latest Via
chipset drivers and usb drivers. when The usb 2.0 drivers
are installed, the Enhanced pci usb controller will not
work correctly. it causes all usb port to work at an
extremely slow rate. Like stepping backward to version 1.0

Previously I posted and got incorrect responses. I have
the correct mother board specs and drivers.

Have tried a fresh load of 98sE installed usb 2.0 driver
same problem. What I am asking is, is this problem like
old win95 with a 350MHZ or faster CPU running 100MHZ bus,
where it errored out. Until MS supplied a patch.
In other words does this mean in the new 64 bit system win
98SE is has been or is there a fix?
